Sony is in the midst of a big sale involving games for Playstation 4 and Playstation 5, and players can choose from 432 discounted titles.

Sony is in the midst of a big sale involving PlayStation games. The event comes off the back of its recent decision regarding the PlayStation digital storefront. In March, Sony unveiled plans to close the PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, and Vita digital stores, but the company changed its mind after an uproar from fans. In April, the PlayStation 5 became the fasting selling console in United States history; in terms of units sold and dollars in history.

Playstation fans often clamor for more access to the company’s gigantic back catalog of popular titles. Sony is sometimes slow to respond to these requests, as evidenced in its neglect to make next-generation consoles backward compatible with the popular PlayStation 3 system. However, with more recent titles regularly going on sale, fans have still had plenty of options to enjoy themselves on Sony’s gaming system.

Sony is currently running the Extended Play Sale on the PlayStation Store (via GameSpot) until May 26, with deals on 432 on games and DLC. Titles like Destiny 2Mortal Kombat 11, and FIFA 21 are currently on sale for up to 75%. The multiple-week sale allows gamers to finish off the DLC collection for their favorite titles, or grab games they’ve had their eye on for quite some time. At the time of this writing, the current ‘Deal of the Week’ features the vanilla and deluxe editions of Little Nightmares II.

While the Extended Play Sale does not feature any newer releases, it does feature titles that require many hours of play to complete — perhaps explaining the name of the sale. Games like Warhammer Vermintide IIMonster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition Digital Deluxe, and The Yakuza Origins Digital Bundle are all games where players can spend tens of hours playing if they choose. Any title in the Monster Hunter franchise can see players reach over 100 hours if they dig into the open world and the wealth of side content on offer.

With the recent success of Playstation 5, it makes sense for Sony to continue its regular pattern of sales. However, it remains a questionable choice for the company to refrain from allowing gamers to enjoy PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 games on newer generation consoles, which would probably enhance the attractiveness of deals like the Extended Play Sale. On the other hand, the current wave of discounts still gives fans of nearly every genre something they can enjoy, especially if they enjoy titles that take time to complete. Gamers should check out the list of discounted titles to see if there is something that catches their eye.
