CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — North Carolina received one of the last available at-large bids for the NCAA Baseball Championship on Monday. The Tar Heels earned the No. 3 seed in the Lubbock Regional and will take on No. 2 regional seed UCLA on Friday (7 p.m./ESPN3).

UNC is 8-5 all-time against UCLA, including a 1-1 record in postseason play. No. 8 national seed Texas Tech is hosting the regional and No. 4 seed Army rounds out the field.

Head coach Scott Forbes spoke with the media on Tuesday ahead of his first Regional appearance as a head coach. The Tar Heels (27-26, 18-18 ACC) are 6-3 in their last nine games, including a crucial sweep of Louisville and a 9-6 win over No. 16 N.C. State in the ACC Tournament.

UNC is 109-71 in 32 NCAA Tournament appearances and have reached the College World Series 11 times, most recently in 2018. The Tar Heels are making their 17th appearance in the last 19 NCAA Tournaments. They are 15-14 in eight regionals played on the road in the current NCAA Tournament format.
